REAL Health Worker Heroes Awarded Global Honors
Second Annual REAL Awards announced by Save the Children and the Frontline Health Workers Coalition Recognize Extraordinary Health Workers in the U.S. and Around the World

The same night Hollywood conferred honors to television and movie stars at the Golden Globes, just 70 miles away the second annual REAL Awards honorees were announced at the Patient Safety, Science & Technology Summit hosted by the Masimo Foundation for Ethics, Innovation and Competition in Healthcare. The winners—who hail from around the U.S. and 12 other countries—were recognized for their extraordinary service in saving lives and providing critical health services. Two of the honorees—a public health officer from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Ga., and a doctor from Haiti—attended in person to participate in the announcement on behalf of their fellow winners.

"This awards program puts a new twist on celebrity. It gives the public a chance to celebrate people who really make a difference —the committed health workers on the frontlines of care."

The REAL Awards, created by Save the Children in partnership with the Frontline Health Workers Coalition, is a first-of-its-kind global awards program designed to develop greater respect and appreciation for health workers and the lifesaving care they provide in the United States and around the world.
